Insurance Check for Hail Damage

Hail damage claims can be frustrating. Here at IntelliDent, we seek to make the process as easy and care-free as possible. One question we get from customers all the time is “Well, I haven’t received my insurance check yet, what can I do in the meantime?” That’s a great question. You have a few options, and there are several factors to take into consideration when coming up with the best option:

If you have a loan on your car and your insurance adjuster is making the check out to you and your lienholder:

If this is the case, go ahead and bring your car in. We will have the check re-issued in your name and our name instead of the way it’s currently issued. This is an easy fix, and typically only requires a phone call from us and a signed form from you (which we’ll have you sign when you drop your car off for the repairs). At that point, the insurance will send us a 2-party check made out to you and us, so that you must endorse the back once you approve the work. This secures both you as the customer to ensure your insurance company isn’t paying for work you don’t approve of, and secures us to ensure customers can’t cash checks in lieu of paying us for the work provided.

If you’ve already had the check made out to yourself and to us:

If this is the case, feel free to go ahead and bring the car in. The check usually arrives in 3-5 business days, which just so happens to be less than time normal hail damage takes to repair, so you will more than likely have the check in hand once you come pick the car up. If you don’t, we can still release your car back to you; we’d just ask you bring in the check as soon as you receive it. We may just request the insurance send it directly to us, if that’s the case, depending on the situation.

If you own your car outright, and the check is coming directly to you, not as a 2-party check:

If this is the case, we would still tell you to go ahead and drop your car off with us. If the check is still in transit by the time we are finished with the repairs, we will simply have the check re-issued and mailed directly to us for the repairs performed. If you receive the check during the time your car is in our shop, go ahead and cash it, and you’ll just be responsible for bringing in a cashier’s check for the amount of the check when you retrieve the car.

Hopefully this answers some questions you may have! If any of the above scenarios describe your situation, and you wish to schedule an appointment for FREE estimate on your hail damage repair, feel free to contact us at (888) 959-1763 or use our online estimation form.
